PARK EQUINE – NEWS – JANUARY 2021

Marta

Many will have already seen on our Facebook page that Marta is returning to the Practice, to start on 5 January 2021.

We are delighted to welcome her back and she is looking forward to meeting all of our clients, horses, ponies and donkeys again.

For those who may not have met Marta, she worked for us between 2006 and 2017 and has a reputation as a practical, knowledgeable and friendly equine vet. She qualified in 2004 and has worked in equine practice, equine research and for an international charity taking care of working equids.

Free Visits

We are introducing: Free Visit Zones and Free Visits for multiple horses

Free Visit Zones

We are starting a programme of Free Visit Zones for routine work only (e.g. vaccinations, dentals, routine blood tests and microchips) in 4 zones surrounding the Practice.

Due to the current COVID restrictions we will have to postpone the start date for this programme, please keep a look out on our Facebook page for further information.

Terms and Conditions will apply:

  • The programme is for routine work only.
  • The specific vet will attend wherever possible, between 8.30am – 5pm.
  • Free visits must be booked by 4pm the previous working day.
  • Times for the visit will be given in the morning, or the evening before if possible.
  • If the client cannot make the allocated time, a full visit fee will apply
  • In the event of an emergency, the vet/time may be subject to change. Any change will be communicated to you as soon as possible.
  • All veterinary work will be charged at our standard rates.
  • Work done must be paid on the day, by card or cash.
  • Only available to clients whose accounts are not outstanding beyond our Terms of Business nor are in breach of our Terms and Conditions.
  • For Zone visits, extra horses added on after 4pm the previous working day will be charged a relevant % of a full visit.
  • The boundaries of the free visit zones may be altered at any time.

Services not included:

  • Lameness work-ups,
  • Emergencies,
  • Diagnostic imaging,
  • Pre-purchase examinations,
  • Shockwave or Acupuncture,
  • Euthanasia

Free Visits for multiple horses

This applies when 4 or more horses are examined at the same yard at the same time

Dentals and Sedation

Dental procedures are often more straightforward, safer and kinder on your horse when performed under sedation. We can also perform a more thorough examination of the teeth and mouth under sedation.

A dental examination under sedation, and a standard rasp/dremel, will be performed for £65 excluding the visit fee.

If more extensive procedures (e.g. fractured or loose teeth or extensive dremel work) are required, this work would attract an additional fee.

Worm Control Packages

We have a range of cost effective diagnostic packages to care for your horse though the year.

Worming decisions for your horse or for a yard of horses can be made by

  1. worm egg counts
  2. blood tests for encysted redworm antibodies
  3. blood or saliva tests for tapeworm antibodies
  4. the clinical situation and the history of the yard

Please contact the surgery and we can chat through the options.

Introduce a friend

If you recommend us to a friend, when your friend (new client) registers and has their first visit, you and your friend will receive a £5.00 discount on both yours and your friend’s next visit and vaccination.  In order to do this, you need your account number which we can give you over the phone or can be sent on a business card if your bill is posted to you. This offer is only eligible for one friend referral and will be recorded once this has been used. The friend must not be an existing Park Vets client or have used us in the past 2 years.

The Office

We welcome Natasha to the Practice. She is well known around some of the local yards and is replacing Sharon who is retiring from the Practice after many years. You may well know Sharon from helping Chris Blackmore on visits in the past but she started as an 18 year old trainee nurse and rose to have various roles including Head Nurse and Equine Manager. We wish her all the best for the future
