Forecasts predict another lovely hot weekend. Like us humans horses too can get sun burn, in particular the pink, non pigmented, bits of skin commonly found on the muzzle and legs.
Access to shade, sunscreen and covers such as rugs and fly masks can help prevent these from occurring. Should your horse burn more easily than its field or stable mate, it could be suffering from photosensitisation.
This could be due to chemical/biological triggers or even liver damage.
